The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Medical Student Subcommittee is pleased to announce the first medical student-led Journal Club! This new initiative will provide a fantastic opportunity for medical students to critically analyze, evaluate and present medical literature pertaining to radiology. Students will be introduced to trending research topics within radiology and will further appreciate the role of radiology research in a clinical context. This platform will also allow students greater access to radiology education, and enhance collaboration and mentorship with radiology researchers.
Our inaugural Journal Club will be held on Feb. 10, hosted by Sriharsha Voleti and Dr. Shankar Srinivas Ganapathy, discussing COVID-19 Pediatric Neuroimaging Findings. Attendees are asked to read the article: “Neuroimaging manifestations in children with SARS-CoV-2 infection: a multinational, multicenter collaborative study.”
With the guidance of a faculty mentor, student presenters will select a journal article pertaining to a trending topic, create a presentation and lead a discussion to evaluate the article’s hypothesis, study design, methods, results and clinical applications.
Journal club sessions will be held virtually on a quarterly basis. Sessions include a 20–30 minute live presentation followed by a 30-minute question and answer discussion amongst the participants.
