Thyroid Ultrasound Using ACR TI-RADS™

This educational activity allows the learner to further develop their interpretation proficiency of thyroid nodules by using ACR TI-RADS, to reduce unnecessary biopsies. This activity is divided into a pre-test comprised of 7 cases, followed by 18 learning cases (with case feedback) and a post-test of 7 cases. The learner will assess each case for sonographic features including composition, echogenicity, margins, shape, and echogenic foci, to determine the risk category.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize the use of ACR TI-RADS for thyroid nodules on ultrasound to categorize risk of malignancy.
  2. Describe the difference between thyroid nodule signs under categories of composition, echogenicity, margins, shape and echogenic foci.
  3. Identify nodules that do not need further biopsy or follow-up ultrasound.
