In 2023, the ACR celebrates a major milestone — a century of quality, integrity, leadership and innovation. Our 100th anniversary gives us an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the world-changing achievements and contributions of our members. We thank you for your impact on radiology, patient care and society.

The ACR has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing the practice and service of radiological care since the very beginning in 1923.

In 1937, the ACR joined the Radiological Society of North America, American Roentgen Ray Society and the American Radium Society to form the Intersociety Committee for Radiology with the intent to protect our profession from insurance companies, hospital efforts to collect and distribute radiology services and the New Deal. From 1964 to 1965, ACR lobbyist J.T. Rutherford found success in advocating for radiology coverage in Medicare Part B, effectively solidifying the future of independent radiology practice. In the early to mid-2000s, ACR expanded education and learning opportunities through the launch of the ACR Education Center, Image Wisely®, the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute®, the Radiology Leadership Institute® and the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology. In recent years, the ACR continues to advocate for radiologists, playing an influential role in beneficial legislation such as the Consolidated Appropriations Act and the Protecting Medicare and American Farmers from Sequester Cuts Act.

Today, we’re more than 40,000 members strong, with increasing involvement from our young physicians. The new generation has served as a catalyst for the launch of our new brand.

On behalf of the ACR Brand Refresh Committee, I’m excited to introduce our new brand identity. Our new logo and tagline are bold, inclusive and forward-thinking. These come to you as the culmination of several years of work by multiple task forces and committees with additional input from nearly 40 interviewees and over 600 survey respondents. This fresh new look focuses on the most important letter of our identity and emphasizes our role in elevating the field of radiology. The new tagline emphasizes that we will be placing our attention on the important issues, looking to the future in advancing our specialty, and working alongside and in harmony with our members.

The ACR remains committed to empowering our influential, inclusive and innovative radiology community of today, and tomorrow. As we venture into our next century, we are #FocusedForwardTogether.
