What does it mean to focus inward to drive forward?
If the road ahead is uncertain, if steep climbs are expected and obstacles are likely, if the climate is hot or stormy, then you’d better have a vehicle tuned up and running smoothly. Healthcare markets are volatile, and various external factors influence radiology’s place within the market, including consolidation, reimbursement pressures, new technologies, labor shortages and changing expectations of the workforce, to name a few. These factors influence the road ahead, and like the drive up a steep mountain pass, your comfort and enjoyment of that road rely on a car that can handle the rigors of the road.
When leading organizations through uncertainty, our teams get us down the road. When we are in the driver’s seat, then it is both our skills and vigor as leaders, together with the alignment and performance of our teams, that maximize the likelihood of a successful journey regardless of climate and road conditions.
The 2022 RLI Summit focuses on the tools that will help you build and prepare teams to manage challenging roads and condition you to lead your teams to achieve your goals. I hope you'll join me for this year’s in person meeting, Sept. 9 to 11, at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. My fellow radiology leadership and business school expert colleagues and I have prepared a robust program to help you find new inspiration to guide your leadership journey. Sessions focusing on leader self-awareness as a basis for emotional and social competence, building collaborative teams and relational leadership as a basis for ensuring high-quality connections that maximize collaboration, will equip you with the tools to drive your departments and practice forward towards success.
On Friday and Saturday, Lawrence R. Muroff, MD, FACR, and I will have the privilege of leading you through hands-on breakout sessions and an interactive case study review with your peers, giving you the chance to put your learnings into practice right away. We hope you’ll join us in September!
