Tessa S. Cook, MD, PhD, CIIP, FSIIM, Co-Chair of the ACR Data Science Institute® 2021 Imaging Informatics Summit, and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, contributed this post.
Informatics is critical to radiology and the rest of healthcare. From the electronic medical record to clinical decision support, quality and safety to cybersecurity, interoperability to novel care delivery, informatics— and increasingly artificial intelligence— plays a role in numerous aspects of patient care. Through successful evaluation, implementation and monitoring of these new technologies, we can drive more efficient and effective outcomes for our patients.
I’m looking forward to exploring the informatics approaches that are delivering value to healthcare organizations during the upcoming 2021 Imaging Informatics Summit, Oct. 16–17. I hope you’ll join me and our team of industry experts for a jam-packed, two-day virtual program that we’ve curated just for you. Our two keynote speakers, Greg Moore, MD, PhD, and Melissa Chen, MD, will dive into the ubiquitous application of AI in radiology and the return on investment of AI, respectively. We’ve planned eight presentations which will be led by a collective 24 speakers, as well as vendor demonstration breakout sessions and an opportunity to earn 6.75 CME credits.
We’ve spent the past few years speaking about the theoretical: the potential role of radiology AI in care delivery, the anticipated impact of clinical decision support and the threat of cybersecurity. But radiology AI is no longer theoretical, with 30% of radiologists in the United States using it, clinical decision support is imminent (again), and multiple large hospitals and health systems were crippled by ransomware attacks this year alone. At this year’s Imaging Informatics Summit, we’ll dive deeper into these topics and more, and take a closer look at how innovation and regulation is actively changing our practice and our patients’ experience of their care. Want to learn more about the future? Attend the Summit, as the future is now.
I hope you’ll join me virtually in October! Register now and save your spot.
