The ACR and an alliance of radiology specialty societies requested CPT codes for diagnostic, nuclear medicine and interventional radiology studies at the September 2018 American Medical Association (AMA) Current Procedure Terminology (CPT®) Editorial Panel meeting in Boston.
Presenting CPT advisors, led by Mark Alson, MD, FACR (ACR), included Timothy Crummy, MD, FACR (Radiological Society of North America); Eric Rubin, MD (American Roentgen Ray Society); Andrew Degnan, MD (ACR) and representatives of other specialty societies.
It was the last of three meetings to create and update codes for the 2020 CPT code cycle. Proposals were presented for lumbar puncture and 3D anatomic modeling. The ACR also co-sponsored proposals for pericardiocentesis and pericardial drainage procedures, SPECT/CT, and hemodialysis vessel mapping.
