ACR to Begin April 2018 RUC Cycle

The American College of Radiology (ACR) plans to survey seven code families for the April 2018 American Medical Association (AMA)/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) meeting. We are kicking off the survey cycle with the following code families:.

  • Ultrasound of the chest
  • CT of the lower extremity
  • X-ray of a surgical specimen

The ACR disseminates AMA/RUC surveys to a random sample of the membership. If you receive a survey for a procedure that you perform, please complete it as soon as possible so the College will receive the most accurate, representative survey data possible from you and our other members.

The April RUC survey cycle is short, which leads us to ask you to quickly complete and file the survey, if you receive one. Your clinical expertise is essential in helping to accurately value these radiology procedures. Once the ACR collects and analyzes the data, we create time and value recommendations for presentation at the April RUC meeting in Chicago.

We will launch the remaining four surveys below in the next couple of weeks:

  • CT of the spine
  • X-ray of the clavicle and shoulder
  • X-ray of the bone
  • 3D rendering

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will review our recommendations for implementation in the 2020 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

Questions may be addressed by email to ACR RUC staff member Christy Buranaamorn or by phone at (703) 648-8900 x5653. Thank you for your time and effort.
