ACR Thanks Physician House Members for Efforts to Avoid America’s Next Healthcare Crisis

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) thanks Reps. Bera, Bucshon, Boyle, Marshall, Finkenauer and Wenstrup for spearheading a recent letter to House leaders urging immediate action to avert the impending healthcare crisis caused by Medicare evaluation and management payment changes scheduled for implementation on Jan. 1, 2021.

These outstanding congressional leaders and the 221 letter cosigners recognize the importance of securing a legislative solution to support primary care provider pay increases while also avoiding the devasting corresponding cuts for specialist providers who infrequently bill Medicare E/M codes.

Their call to advance legislation to address this critical issue in any upcoming legislative package aims to help providers already financially reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic to remain open and preserve access to care for tens of millions of Americans.

“The 40,000-member ACR looks forward to working with Congress, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other medical societies to make necessary Medicare adjustments that preserve access to care for America’s seniors. We thank these congressional leaders for advancing this crucial effort,” said Howard B. Fleishon, MD, MMM, FACR, Chair of the American College of Radiology Board of Chancellors.
