ACR Participates in Virtual Advocacy Presentation for Residents

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Senior State Government Relations Specialist, Dillon Harp, participated in a virtual advocacy presentation for residents last week at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)-Galveston. Mr. Harp was joined by the president of the Texas Radiological Society (TRS), Sarah Avery, MD, FACR, and TRS’s lobbyist Michael Grimes. During the presentation, Dr. Avery spoke about the benefits of joining TRS and her experience as a radiology advocate. Mr. Harp spoke to the residents about ways they can get involved in advocacy on the state level and about the importance of physician-led advocacy. Lastly, Mr. Grimes provided an outlook for the upcoming 2023 Texas legislative session. The event was attended by many radiology residents at UTMB-Galveston and was well received.

The College has many resources to help members become involved in advocacy, including the new Radvocacy website and a scope of practice micro-website. For more information on advocacy and the Radiology Action Network, please contact Melody Ballesteros, ACR Assistant Director, Government Relations.

If you would like your residents to learn more about state advocacy and how the ACR can help them become involved, please reach out to Dillon Harp.
