ACR Presents Code Proposals at September CPT Editorial Panel Meeting

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) and several specialty societies requested Current Procedure Terminology® (CPT®) codes at the recent September American Medical Association (AMA) CPT Editorial Panel meeting. The hybrid meeting was the last of three meetings to update codes for the 2024 CPT code cycle.

The ACR and several radiology specialty societies collaborated with the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS), American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) to present code proposals requesting the conversion of Category III codes to Category I for Dorsal Sacroiliac Joint Arthrodesis and Fractional Flow Reserve with CT. If approved, the new Category I codes will be effective Jan. 1, 2024

For calendar year 2023, the anticipated radiology code changes are posted in the March/April 2022 ACR Radiology Coding Source™. Be sure to check the upcoming September/October 2022 issue of the ACR Radiology Coding Source for the finalized list of 2023 codes with descriptors pertinent to radiology.

The ACR urges its members to review and consider how the code changes may impact their practices for the coming year.
