Complete the TBS Survey and Submit Software Invoices

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) will present four new Trabecular Bone Score (TBS) codes at the upcoming Jan. 2021 American Medical Association/Relative Value Scale Update Committee (AMA/RUC) Meeting.

A RUC survey for TBS was circulated to random ACR members last week. This is a very short cycle, and we still need more completed surveys to help garner appropriate valuation for this procedure. If you have received a survey and perform the procedure, we encourage you to complete this survey by the end of November.

Additionally, the ACR will make practice expense recommendations for these codes, which include clinical staff time, supplies and equipment inputs. With regard to equipment, the ACR needs help obtaining invoice(s) for the TBS software. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires an invoice in order to accurately price new equipment items.

We are especially looking for invoices from office-based practices. The entire process will remain confidential. Any identifying information about your practice will be redacted from the invoice prior to submission. You may also redact the information before sharing it with the ACR. However, it is important that the invoice include the following information:

  • Vendor/Manufacturer.
  • Date of purchase.
  • Product/Item.
  • Quantity.
  • Price (including any and all discounts).

Please submit invoices to invoices@acr.org, and contact Christy Buranaaamorn with any questions about the RUC survey.
