Dr. Tilden Childs Receives Radiology Advocacy Network Advocate of the Year Award

The American College of Radiology Association® (ACRA®) presented the 2022 Howard M. Fleishon, MD, MMM, FACR, Radiology Advocacy Network (RAN) Advocate of the Year Award to Tilden “Ty” L. Childs III, MD, FACR, during ACR 2022®, the annual meeting of the American College of Radiology® (ACR®). Dr. Childs received the award for his years of service, dedication and commitment to train and mentor the next generation of advocates.

Dr. Childs has been a dedicated advocate for radiology, his patients and the ACR for more than 20 years. He has served as an ACR Councilor/Alternate Councilor since 2006. Dr. Childs has also served as the ACR delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates.

During his years of advocacy, Dr. Childs has held all elected positions at the Texas Radiological Society (TRS), serving as President in 2014. He also served as the TRS delegate to the Texas Medical Association (TMA) and as President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Radiological Society. Dr. Childs served on numerous ACR, TRS and TMA committees focused on challenging advocacy issues. Earlier this year, received the TRS Gold Medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions to radiology and radiologists in Texas.

For all his accolades, Dr. Childs is very humble when he expresses his passion for advocacy. In a session at ACR 2022, ‘Creating a Culture of Advocacy in Your State,’ he shared his “Tyisms” of advocacy, many of which revolve around relationship building. “Always be friendly, polite and professional,” is one of Dr. Childs’ Tyisms.
