The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) presented five action plans at the American Medical Association (AMA)/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC) Meeting in San Diego, April 26–30. These action plans pertained to previously surveyed codes for fine needle aspiration, magnetic resonance imaging of the breast, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, ultrasound elastography and magnetic resonance elastography.
Andrew Moriarity, MD, ACR alternate RUC Advisor, presented the action plans for the College, while William Donovan, MD, MPH, represented radiology on the RUC Panel. Michael Booker, MD, RSNA RUC Advisor represented radiology on the practice expense subcommittee. Lauren Nicola, MD, the ACR RUC Advisor, and Kurt Schoppe, MD, ACR alternate RUC Advisor, participated virtually.
All discussions at RUC meetings are confidential. All time and value recommendations from this meeting will be shared with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for consideration for the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
The ACR is looking ahead to the September 2023 RUC meeting and anticipates that radiology will have several codes to present. The College plans to begin circulating RUC surveys to our membership in June 2023.
The AMA continues to move ahead with its practice cost data collection effort, expected to kick off in June or July 2023.
