ACR Presents Code Proposal at May CPT Editorial Panel Meeting

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) and several specialty societies submitted a code change proposal at the May 2021 American Medical Association (AMA) Current Procedure Terminology (CPT®) Editorial Panel meeting. The virtual meeting was the second of three meetings to update codes for the 2023 CPT code cycle.

The ACR, along with the Radiological Society of North America, American Roentgen Ray Society, Association of University Radiologists and American College of Cardiology presented a code proposal to request a revision to the existing language in the Evaluation and Management (E/M) Services Guidelines to include additional language to reflect Ultrasound Assisted Physical Examination (UAPE). If approved, the new E/M services guidelines will be updated Jan. 1, 2023.

For calendar year 2022, the anticipated radiology code changes are posted in the March/April 2021 ACR Radiology Coding Source. Be sure to check out the September/October 2021 issue of the ACR Radiology Coding Source for the complete finalized list of 2022 codes with descriptors pertinent to radiology.
