The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on April 27 released the fiscal year (FY) 2022 Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems (IPPS) for Acute Care Hospitals and the Long Term Care Hospital (LTCH) Prospective Payment System proposed rule. The rule provides updates for Medicare fee-for-service payment rates and policies for inpatient hospitals and long-term care hospitals for FY 2022.
CMS provided updated payment information within the proposed rule. The agency estimates hospital payments will increase by $2.5 billion in FY 2022. ACR staff is reviewing the proposed rule and will release a summary once the review is complete.
