ACR Launches October 2021 RUC Surveys

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) is rolling out surveys in preparation for the American Medical Association/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) in October. The RUC provides medicine a voice in shaping Medicare relative values for physician services. The ACR conducts surveys to make time and value recommendations to the RUC. The RUC then shares the recommendations with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for consideration, in this instance for the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

The ACR is surveying five codes:

  • Contrast X-ray of the knee joint.
  • 3-D rendering.
  • Ultrasound guidance.
  • Fluoroscopic guidance for needle placement or localization (two codes).

The ACR-distributed surveys will be sent to a random sample of members this month. If you receive a RUC survey and perform the procedure, please complete it as soon as possible. Note that several of the surveys are a multispecialty effort; if you receive a survey for the same service from more than one specialty society, complete only one survey.

If you have questions about the survey process, please contact Christy Buranaamorn at cburanaamorn@acr.org.
