The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) has removed a recommendation from its draft report and recommendations on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience that could have enabled scope of practice expansion for non-physicians. The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) had called for the removal of the recommendation.
While the ACR and many other medical specialty societies supported the majority of the report, the College sent a letter to NAM requesting it remove the provision in part because the national plan is not the appropriate place to discuss scope of practice for advanced practice nurses.
If you have any questions about this or scope of practice issues, please contact Dillon Harp, ACR Senior State Government Relations Specialist.
