The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it will conduct a data validation audit of a random selection of Quality Payment Program (QPP) participants beginning this month. The audits will encompass data submitted in 2019, 2020 and/or 2021. Once contacted for an audit, participants will have 45 days to provide the requested documentation.
CMS also announced recently that the deadline for applying for an Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) exemption for the 2022 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) has been extended to March 3. Physicians or groups who want to apply for the exemption can submit an online application.
