The U.S. Senate voted to confirm Robert Califf MD, as Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by a vote of 50-46. Dr. Califf, a cardiologist and clinical trial researcher, previously served as FDA Commissioner under President Obama. During confirmation proceedings, Califf pledged to reform FDA’s accelerated approval pathway.
