The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the latest National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) procedure-to-procedure (PTP) edits, Version 29.1, which will be effective April 1, 2023. The update will be available via the CMS Virtual Data Center (VDC). A test file will be available on or about Jan. 31, 2023, and a final file will be available on or about Feb. 14, 2023.
The NCCI was developed by CMS to promote national correct coding methodologies and to control improper coding that leads to inappropriate payment in Medicare Part B claims. Version 29.1 will include all previous versions and updates from Jan. 1, 1996, to the present.
