The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the calendar year (CY) 2018 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) final rule on November 2. Upon initial review, the ACR is pleased with several provisions within the rule. While CMS has adjusted its proposal to move forward with implementation of appropriate use criteria (AUC)/clinical decision support (CDS) for all advanced diagnostic imaging services on January 1, 2019, to January 1, 2020, the ACR is pleased that CMS is taking time to adjust the claims-processing instructions to make the process less burdensome for physicians. The ACR applauds CMS for moving forward with implementation of this important program.
