The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on June 9 regarding the Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment System 2024 proposed rule.
ACR expressed concerns about a new electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM), Excessive Radiation Dose or Inadequate Image Quality for Diagnostic Computed Tomography (CT) in Adults (Hospital Level – Inpatient). The College is concerned with the methodology and validity of this measure, the burden and complexity of its implementation, and the potential for unintended consequences to patients. The measure is likely to also be proposed for inclusion in the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System and the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rules.
If you have questions about the IPPS rule or the Excessive Radiation Dose measure, contact Samantha Shugarman, ACR Director of Quality Programs.
