The United States Department of Labor and other federal agencies released the Surprise Billing Final Rule August 19.
American College of Radiology volunteer leadership and senior staff are reviewing the 146-page rule – particularly the passages regarding the Qualified Payment Amount (QPA) as it applies to the independent dispute resolution (IDR) process.
The College wants to ensure that the rule addresses ACR legal concerns and complies with the text and spirit of the ACR-supported Texas federal court ruling that vacated parts of the IDR process in the Surprise Billing Interim Final Rule (IFR).
ACR leaders and staff will continue to review the document and provide more detailed information in the coming days.
