Meet Your New Leadership: 2026 MSS Steering Committee

The ACR^® Medical Student Section (MSS) Steering Committee is pleased to welcome a new set of leaders this year to guide medical student programming and activities within the ACR. We asked them to share a little about themselves to help you get to know them better and invite you to learn more about them — their paths to radiology and the hobbies and interests they enjoy outside of medicine.

Ahmed Salti 
Chair | Western University of Health Science, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Northwest 

I’m honored to serve on the MSS Steering Committee for the 2026–2027 term. My interest in radiology grew through my medical school curriculum, but attending the ACR Annual Meeting in 2025 inspired me to become involved with MSS. I was struck by the welcoming culture, the passion for education and advocacy, and the opportunities available to students. This year, my goal is to foster that same sense of community by connecting students with one another and the opportunities available through the ACR. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, learning history and spending time with my wife and our two young children.

Adriana Ene

I’m honored to serve on the MSS Steering Committee for the 2026–2027 term. My interest in radiology began even before medical school, when I worked as a radiology tech aide. I became involved with the ACR during my M2 year, and my involvement has continued to grow over time. I helped organize ACR MSS programming in 2025 and 2026, including implementing an in-person poster session. This year, I hope to expand the poster session to include even more participants and to encourage greater medical student involvement in the ACR. In my free time, I enjoy coding, gardening and reading good books.

Alena Khalil
Secretary | Nova Southeastern University Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine 

I’m a career changer with a background in international relations, where I developed a strong interest in public policy and advocacy. Those interests naturally carried over into medicine and led me to become involved with the ACR through the PIER Scholarship Program. Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the MSS Pre-RAN Subcommittee, first as a member and then as Chair. In that role, I helped develop webinars, peer-to-peer communication initiatives and a resolution writing toolkit to make advocacy more approachable for medical students. As Secretary of the MSS, I’m excited to continue supporting our members and helping ensure that medical student voices are represented within organized radiology. Outside of medicine, I enjoy traveling, photography and exploring new places. Whether I’m attending a conference, meeting with legislators on Capitol Hill or exploring a new city with my camera, I value the opportunity to learn from new experiences and the people I meet along the way.

Leyra Liz Vázquez-Rivera
Outreach and Professional Opportunity Liaison | Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine

Radiology has given me opportunities to learn, grow as a leader and connect with an inspiring community of students and mentors. Through my involvement with the ACR MSS, I have been fortunate to contribute to initiatives that expand student engagement and develop resources to help medical students navigate opportunities in radiology. I am excited to serve as the Outreach and Professional Opportunity Liaison on the MSS Steering Committee this year. My goal is to continue expanding access to mentorship, research, leadership and professional development opportunities for every student interested in radiology while encouraging meaningful connections within our community. Outside of medicine, I enjoy baking, watching anime and reading manga. 

Stephanie Nagy 
Education Liaison | Nova Southeastern University Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine 

I am excited to serve as the Education Liaison on the MSS Steering Committee this year. I first learned about the ACR through my medical school's radiology interest group, which inspired me to explore ways to get involved in radiology as a medical student. That journey led me to the MSS, where I have been fortunate to contribute to several subcommittee initiatives over the past two years. As the Education Liaison, I hope to develop educational resources that radiology interest groups can use to support their events and programming, while also helping organize next year's research symposium. Outside of medicine, I enjoy working out, relaxing in the sun and baking.

Desirée D’Moore
Health Innovation and Technology Liaison | Morehouse School of Medicine

I became involved with the ACR MSS to create innovative educational resources and connect students with opportunities in radiology. With a background in physics, I found the perfect fit through the HIT Subcommittee, leading the 3D Printing in Radiology project and contributing to MSS AI Podcast: Reimagine Radiology and ACR Radiology Interest Group Toolkit. This year, I hope to expand student engagement with emerging technologies and make innovation in radiology more accessible. Outside of medicine, I enjoy 3D printing, knitting, crocheting and traveling.

Hassan Ahad
Humanities and Bioethics Liaison | University of Minnesota School of Medicine

It is my honor to serve as the Humanities and Bioethics Liaison on the MSS Steering Committee this year. I first found out about the ACR through my state’s ACR chapter, the Minnesota Radiological Society, and quickly learned about the ACR MSS soon afterward when exploring ways to incorporate my artistic interests into medical training. My goal for this year is to expand artistic and humanistic opportunities in the realm of radiology and to encourage students to understand how they can contribute to the advancement of radiology at the trainee level. Outside of medicine, I love playing jazz trumpet and competing in video games.
