ACR® CEO Dana H. Smetherman, MD, MPH, MBA, FACR, and ACR Board of Chancellors Vice Chair Christoph Wald, MD, PhD, MBA, FACR, will present at the World Health Expo (WHX), in Dubai Feb. 9-12, highlighting how ACR’s expanding international programs support radiology professionals and patients worldwide.
Their sessions will spotlight ACR’s new international membership options, quality and safety initiatives and artificial intelligence monitoring portfolio designed to promote high-quality imaging and safe AI adoption across global health systems.
World Health Expo Insights, the event’s official publication, will publish self-authored articles from Drs. Smetherman and Wald. Both articles will appear in an upcoming issue of ACR Advocacy in Action.
Dr. Wald’s Feb. 10 presentation and related article, ACR AI Initiatives: Empowering Safe Imaging AI Adoption Worldwide, traces the evolution of radiology AI and outlines the College’s leadership in guiding ethical, effective and clinically impactful AI implementation. Through the ACR Data Science Institute®, ACR launched initiatives including the Define-AI Directory, AI-LAB, AI Central, ARCH-AI quality recognition and the Assess-AI registry. These programs support education, validation, ethics and post-deployment monitoring of imaging AI. In 2025, ACR expanded these efforts globally with the launch of an Informatics International membership and international ARCH-AI recognition.
Dr. Smetherman’s Feb. 10 presentation and related article, Evolution of Excellence: ACR’s Quality and Safety Programs, will highlight ACR’s century-long commitment to quality and safety — from early practice parameters and technical standards and accreditation, to modern data-driven initiatives focused on clinical decision support and benchmarking. ACR launched its International Recognition Program in 2024 to recognize radiology facilities worldwide that demonstrate high-quality imaging and patient-centered care.
As radiology continues to evolve, ACR remains committed to advancing high-quality, safe and effective patient care in the United States and around the world through innovation, collaboration and global engagement.
