Art levels the playing field for people from different cultures and backgrounds and offers diverse perceptions. It makes all of us more humanistic and diminishes feelings of burnout and stress. Art also supports patient- and family-centered care by enhancing communication skills and overcoming barriers through changing the culture in healthcare settings to be more supportive and humane.
By sharing these works from radiologists, residents, and medical students we hope to:
- Engage members in meaningful conversations about radiology culture.
- Promote wellness on the patient and radiologist space.
- Build stronger advocates for our profession.
- Foster stronger member relationships.
The PFCC Education Committee is proud to present radiologists’ art this year reflecting the theme of "Art of Healing".
ACR 2023: The Art of Healing
2023 has been a very successful year to share art from radiologists/aspiring radiologists at all levels. The Association of University Radiologists (AUR)meeting allowed us to share art in the “Imaginarium” a creative space where we saw live music performances, classes on visualization, and a generally supportive welcoming creative environment. The first annual “Radiology’s Got Talent Show” gave a couple of us a chance to perform with our Dr. Ashley Davidoff to the sounds of an MRI machine.
The annual ACR meeting in Washington, D.C. was a chance for us to display art on easels along with our favorite sculptor radiologist, Dr. Marlena Jbara. The event culminated with a drawing for “brainflower” created by Dr. Ashley Davidoff. All entrants were asked to provide feedback on ways we can continue to improve the patient and radiologists’ experience using the arts.
