The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) provided input about federal policy priorities for artificial intelligence (AI) used in patient care applications in its response to the request for information from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Networking and Information Technology Research and Development National Coordination Office about the Administration’s future “AI Action Plan.”

The future AI Action Plan is expected to be broadly applicable across all domains of industry; however, ACR focused its input on issues around healthcare AI oversight, transparency, post-deployment monitoring, qualified end-user criteria, physician-informed payment for high clinical value AI and safe implementations, and medical uses of AI.

When available, the plan will replace the 2023 Biden executive order on AI, rescinded by President Trump in January.

For more information about ACR’s AI-related initiatives, visit the ACR Data Science Institute. For questions about AI oversight and digital health policy, contact Michael Peters, ACR Senior Director, Government Affairs.
