ACR Joins Letter Urging $51.3 Billion for NIH in FY27
ACR urged Congress to provide at least $51.3 billion in funding for NIH in federal fiscal year 2027.
Read moreThe White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released a memorandum March 28, providing guidance on artificial intelligence (AI) implementation, governance and use by federal agencies. The memorandum applies broadly across the Executive Branch, and therefore will influence the digital infrastructure within agencies that regulate or research aspects of healthcare (e.g., agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services), as well as certain technologies within federal healthcare provider facilities (e.g., Department of Veterans Affairs).
Per a directive in the 2023 Executive Order “Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of AI,” OMB has 180 days to establish the means to ensure that federal contracts for the acquisition of AI systems and services align with the memorandum. To help inform this effort, OMB also published a request for information (RFI) on “Responsible Procurement of Artificial Intelligence in Government.” RFI comments are due April 29.
American College of Radiology® (ACR®) members with questions or an interest in providing input to inform the College’s future comment submission to OMB should contact Michael Peters, ACR Senior Government Affairs Director. To learn more about the ACR’s AI programs, visit the ACR Data Science Institute website.
