Read moreWASHINGTON, DC (May 6, 2026) — The American College of Radiology® Radiology Leadership Institute® named Alexander Norbash, MD, MS, FACR as the recipient of the 2026 Lawrence R. Muroff RLI Leadership Luminary Award, recognizing his lifetime of innovation, leadership and service to the radiology profession. The RLI also announced recipients of the Impact in Leadership Award and Philips Emerging Leaders RLI Scholarship during ACR 2026, the College’s annual meeting in Washington, DC.
Norbash is dean of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He served as chair and professor of radiology at the University of California, San Diego, from 2015 through 2024, and at Boston University from 2004 through 2015. Earlier in his career, he served as chief of Diagnostic Neuroradiology, Interventional Neuroradiology, and Endovascular Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital from 2000 through 2004. A nationally recognized leader, Norbash has played a pivotal role in shaping the radiology leadership landscape. He is a founding board member of RLI and served as chair of the annual RLI summit from 2013 through 2023.
Norbash served as ACR® vice president in 2020 and was the founding chair of the ACR Head Injury Institute. He was chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors Commission on Neuroradiology and served as the president of many regional and national societies including the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments, the Massachusetts Radiological Society and the New England Roentgen Ray Society.
“Dr. Norbash has shaped generations of radiology leaders through his vision, mentorship and unwavering commitment to the specialty,” said Richard Duszak Jr., MD, FACR, Chair, ACR Commission on Leadership and Practice Development and Chief Medical Officer of the RLI. “His lifelong commitment to leadership development has strengthened the profession and improved care for patients across the country.”
The RLI Impact in Leadership Award recognizes individuals who have applied knowledge or skills gained through participation in RLI programs to drive meaningful change within their practices or institutions.
The 2026 Impact in Leadership Award recipient is Arthur Hung, MD FACR, an associate professor of radiation medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. He specializes in treating patients with genitourinary cancers and soft-tissue sarcomas. Hung is a graduate of the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Rice University. He participated in the RLI Maximize Your Influence and Impact program where he developed the leadership skills and insights that helped inform his Impact award-winning initiative: Structured Stewardship: Building a Durable Operating System in Radiation Oncology for Culture and Performance.
The Philips Emerging Leaders RLI Scholarship supports residents or fellows who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and sustained interest in leadership development.
This year’s cohort represents a diverse group of emerging leaders from institutions across the country. The 2026 Philips Emerging Leader RLI Scholarship recipients are:
