Radiology Leadership Institute Announces Impact in Leadership Award, Emerging Leader Scholarship Recipients

The Radiology Leadership Institute® (RLI) announced the Impact in Leadership Award and Emerging Leader Scholarship recipients during the American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

“The Radiology Leadership Institute promotes leadership development across the spectrum and the scholarship program is a great way for young people to jumpstart their careers in leadership,” said Frank J. Lexa, MD, MBA, ACR Radiology Leadership Institute chief medical officer. “The Impact award is an important way that we recognize the achievements of those who have used this training to change radiology for the better.”

The 2024 RLI Impact in Leadership Award recipient is Archie R. McGowan, MD, MBA, FACR, Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth, NH. The award honors individuals whose participation in an RLI course or program was integral to the successful completion of specific projects or initiatives at their practices or institutions.

The RLI Emerging Leader Scholarship recognizes residents or fellows who have demonstrated a strong interest in leadership and who show promise to both become leaders in the field and to also contribute to the future of radiology.

The 2024 Emerging Leader Scholarship recipients are:

• John D. Di Capua, MD, MHS, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston
• Sammar Ghannam, MD, MPH, University of Texas Health San Antonio, San Antonio
• Yu-Hui Huang, MD, MS, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis
• Hanzhou Li, MD, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta
• Arya H. Mirzaian, MD, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston
• Yekaterina Shpanskaya, MD, Duke University, Durham, NC
• Kaitlin Zaki-Metias, MD, Trinity Health Oakland/Wayne State University, Pontiac, MI

“RLI leadership training can benefit radiologists at every career level and help them achieve their professional goals,” said William T. Thorwarth Jr., MD, FACR, CEO of ACR. “We want to recognize and support our future leaders and those who are leading initiatives to improve their practices.”

The RLI and the ACR professional development and leadership program will recognize the award recipients at the RLI Summit, Sept. 6-8, in Boston.
