ACR Foundation Global Humanitarian Award

Recognizing the dedication of outstanding individuals, organizations and programs in their work to improve equitable delivery of radiological services in low- and middle-income countries and areas of need around the world.

According to the World Health Organization , half of the world’s population lacks access to radiological services. The ACR^® Foundation (ACRF) works with volunteer radiologists, organizations, industry representatives and allied health workers to improve access to quality radiological services in areas of need around the world.

The Global Humanitarian Award honors individuals committed to providing greater access to quality radiological care to overcome the challenges of health equity and help decrease mortality and morbidity rates in these communities.

The application period is now closed.

The Global Humanitarian Award may be given in one of three distinct categories:

Individual radiologists.
Organizations, including nonprofit and industry groups.
Nonradiologists, including medical physicists, radiologic technologists, ultrasonographers and other radiological professionals.

Recipients shall:

Comply with the ACR Code of Ethics and/or its intent.
Exhibit the requisite character, humility and collaborative spirit to inspire others to serve.
Encourage groups or individuals to work collectively for the advancement of improved radiological care abroad.

All nominations must include at least two letters of support from:

A colleague and/or collaborating organization in support of the nominee’s work.
The entity (e.g., facility, organization or patient group) impacted as a result of the nominee’s work.

When the application cycle opens, please complete the online application and send in two letters of support. For support, contact Meredith Amos.

Letters should be signed on letterhead and no longer than one page. If you have assisted multiple organizations or countries, please make sure to combine the information. Please note that short videos or newsletters are acceptable in lieu of a specific letter.

A committee of the ACRF reviews nominations and makes their recommendations to the Board for final approval. Nominees will be notified in early February.

In addition to recognizing individuals for their work, we hope this program encourages further volunteer outreach efforts. The ACRF seeks to improve patient care in underserved areas and provide a forum to share successful approaches while highlighting areas of ongoing need.

The ACRF Global Humanitarian Award is an honor that recognizes not only exemplary service but also the high ideals embodied in the award.

Know someone who’s done outstanding work to improve access to radiological care?

Global Humanitarian Award recipients may be self-nominated or nominated by a peer by the application deadline.

Submit nominations via the ACRF Global Humanitarian Award application.

Applications must include at least two letters of support from a colleague and/or collaborating organization and the entity impacted by the nominee’s work.

Letters should be signed on letterhead and no longer than one page.

For nominees assisting multiple organizations, please combine information on a single letter.

Videos and newsletters are acceptable in lieu of a letter.
