ACR continues to monitor radiology-specific legislation. With some states still in session, active awareness at the chapter level remains critical.

Scope of Practice

Illinois

Senate Bill (SB) 271 is awaiting action in the Senate. If enacted, this bill would allow physician assistants (PAs) to practice independently after completing 2,000 hours of clinical experience and 250 hours of continuing education post-certification. 

Kansas

House Bill (HB) 2366 is awaiting action by the House Committee on Health and Human Services. It would allow naturopaths to order diagnostic imaging studies.

Massachusetts

House Document (HD) 774 is awaiting action by the Joint Committee on Public Health. If enacted, this bill would allow a PA to practice independently after working 2,000 hours in a collaborative setting.

Pennsylvania 

HB 739 is awaiting action in the House Professional Licensure Committee. If enacted, this bill would provide for independent practice for APRNs. 

SB 197 is awaiting action in the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee. This bill would extend the period allowed for physical therapists to treat without a referral.
