The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released third quarter National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) Procedure-to-Procedure (PTP), Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE) and Add-on Code (AOC) edits that take effect July 1. The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) urges practices to review the NCCI edits relevant to radiology and make any necessary updates to their system.

CMS developed NCCI to promote national correct coding methodologies and to control improper coding that leads to inappropriate payment in Medicare Part B claims. This update includes all previous edits and changes from Jan. 1, 1996, to the present.

Refer to the CMS NCCI webpage for additional information or contact Maria Tran, ACR Director of Economic Policy.
