The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) recently co-signed a letter led by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) voicing its support for the reauthorization of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act. The bill reauthorizes ACR-supported legislation to provide grants to help healthcare organizations offer behavioral health services for front-line medical workers.

Reauthorization of the legislation would allow healthcare workers better access to education and training to prevent stress and burnout. The bill is named after Lorna Breen, MD, FACEP, who was the chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the New York Presbyterian Allen Hospital. Dr. Breen died by suicide in April 2020.
