Etta Pisano, MD, FACR, ACR® Chief Research Officer spoke at the Zhejiang Medical Doctor Association meeting in Wenzhou, China where she led a keynote session that highlighted the ACR’s role in guiding safe, effective use of AI in patient care.

She outlined key ACR programs, including ARCH-AI, ASSESS-AI and the Healthcare AI Challenge. These efforts create national standards to test and monitor AI tools in real-world settings. Pisano said these programs help ensure AI works safely and effectively.

Pisano stressed the need for global teamwork. She noted that AI must work across different patient groups and health systems. She invited Chinese hospitals and researchers to join ACR efforts and help shape shared standards.

In a second session, Pisano discussed how AI can improve clinical trials. She said traditional trials often take too long and do not reflect real-world patients. AI can speed up data review, improve recruitment and boost data quality, she said.

During the visit, Pisano also met with conference leaders to explore future partnerships. Talks focused on building joint efforts around AI standards tailored to local needs. Her trip highlights the ACR’s growing global reach and its push to ensure AI advances patient care worldwide.
