Welcome to the American College of Radiology® (ACR) annual report for fiscal year 2023 (FY 2023), July 1, 2022–June 30, 2023.
It is again my pleasure to present to you the ACR® Annual Report. On behalf of our Board of Chancellors, led by Board Chair Jacqueline A. Bello, MD, FACR, I want to thank more than 2,000 volunteers and our dedicated ACR staff for making fiscal year 2023 another successful year for the College. We continued to fulfill our mission to serve as the voice of our members, empowering them to advance the practice and science of radiological care.
This year was highlighted by the kickoff of our Centennial Celebration at the ACR 2023 Annual Meeting in May. Having been conceived in 1923 and then incorporated in 1924, it gave us a good reason to extend our festivities over this year that will conclude in April at ACR 2024. As we emerged from the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, the College continued to innovate in our activities and structure, including moving to a predominantly remote workforce. These efforts expanded our ability to attract talented staff, now with employees in 23 states. After a thorough assessment, the ACR Board approved the sale of our 1891 Preston White Drive building in Reston, VA, a facility we’d occupied since 1988. Our headquarters now reside within the 1892 Preston White Drive building above the ACR Education Center.
The Radiology Leadership Institute® and the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute® continue to provide unique skill-building opportunities and data-driven assessment of the key factors impacting radiology and healthcare delivery, respectively. The ACR Center for Research and Innovation™ in Philadelphia is thriving, with both NIH/NCI and vendor-supported efforts leading to new discoveries in diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology. The ACR Data Science Institute® is now fully established as the “go-to” resource for all matters related to artificial intelligence/mach
Finally, I want to highlight the successes of our government relations team who once again led the 100+ organization coalition (physician and non-physician providers) in mitigating Medicare reimbursement cuts. Legislation in December 2022 resulted in approximately $467 million of reclaimed reimbursement for radiologists.
I hope you will take a few minutes to review our annual report and appreciate, like I do, the overarching goal of our strategic plan, “The ACR is indispensable to all eligible members.”
