The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) presented four CPT® codes for valuation at the American Medical Association (AMA)/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) Meeting April 23-27.

The College, in collaboration with the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society, the American Society of Neuroradiology, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, presented time and value recommendations related to endovascular therapy with imaging. The discussions and values approved at the RUC are confidential and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will address these codes and values in the 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

This was the first meeting for the following individuals in their new roles: Gregory Nicola, MD, FACR served as the Radiology RUC Member, with Lauren Nicola, MD, FACR serving as the Alternate Radiology RUC Member. Andy Moriarity, MD, as the ACR RUC Advisor, presented the endovascular therapy codes with support from Michael Booker, MD, MBA, the ACR Alternate RUC Advisor. Dr. Booker continues to serve on the Practice Expense Subcommittee.

The ACR plans to kick off our surveys for the September 2024 RUC cycle by June 2024.

The AMA is still collecting responses for their physician practice information survey. Radiology participation in this survey is critical to gather accurate practice cost data for our specialty. To date, we only have a few completed surveys submitted and the survey end date is approaching. If your practice has received the survey, please make it a priority to complete it as soon as possible.
