Take Action: Contact Your US Senators to Cosponsor ROOT Act

Lawmakers are advancing key priorities in Congress following enactment of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act into law July 4. One priority is ACR-supported bipartisan legislation — the Radiology Outpatient Ordering Transmission (ROOT) Act (S. 1692) — introduced by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV).
ACR member action is vital today. The ROOT Act needs more cosponsors in the Senate and College member advocacy will make a difference. ACR makes it easy for you to contact your Senator.
The bill would fix challenges with CMS implementation of the imaging appropriate use criteria (AUC) section of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) of 2014. It would simplify the administration of the AUC program that is estimated to result in as much as $1.4 billion in savings for Medicare beneficiaries, and up to $2 billion for the Medicare system over the next 10 years.
