The American College of Radiology® (ACR®), the Society for Interventional Radiology and the Washington State Radiological Society submitted comments to the Washington State Health Care Authority regarding its non-coverage policy for vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty and sacroplasty (VKS).

The ACR Contractor Advisory Committee Network, which began tracking this issue in October, is disappointed by the state’s non-coverage decision, despite favorable Medicare coverage policies across the U.S. The letter formally requests an immediate reopening of the coverage decision.

The Washington State Health Technology Clinical Committee recently published its draft findings and decision for public comment and is expected to publish the final evidence report April 2.
