ACR® in collaboration with several radiology societies and other medical organizations, submitted proposals for new and revised CPT® codes during the AMA CPT Editorial Panel September meeting. This hybrid meeting marked the final session for code updates in the 2027 CPT code cycle.
Specifically, the group presented proposals for:
The AMA will release the Summary of Panel Actions outlining decisions made on each code application by Oct 3.
For the 2026 calendar year, anticipated CPT Changes are available on the ACR website. A finalized list of 2026 codes, including radiology-specific descriptions, will be published in the upcoming September/October 2025 issue of the ACR Radiology Coding Source.
Allied group members include the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), Association of Academic Radiology (AAR), Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), and in coordination with organizations such as the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), American Academy of Neurology/Congress of Neurological Surgeons (AAN/CNS), Renal Physicians Association (RPA), American College of Surgeons (ACS), Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), and American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA).
ACR encourages its members to review these proposed changes and assess their potential impact on clinical practice and billing workflows.
