Rebecca Spangler, ACR Senior Director of Government Affairs and Ted Burnes, ACR Senior Director of Political Affairs and RADPAC® participated in two advocacy panels.
Spangler provided an update on legislative, regulatory and socio-economic issues that the College is working on while Burnes provided context on the political environment on Capitol Hill and offered advocacy engagement tips for radiology practices.
With assistance from RADPAC, attendees heard a video message from Congressman Greg Murphy, MD, and an update from a staff member from the office of Senator Bill Cassidy, MD on the healthcare issues that the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Senate Committee on Finance are working on for the remainder of the year.
Elizabeth Rula, PhD, Neiman Health Policy Institute® (HPI) Executive Director also presented a session on workforce challenges where she highlighted new HPI research on the radiologist workforce shortage identifies the mismatch in the supply of radiologists versus the demand for imaging, projections into the future, and the forces and trends that represent levers for change.
