ACR® Board of Chancellors Chair Alan H. Matsumoto, MD, FACR, represented the College at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) International Conference on Radiation Protection in Medicine: X Ray Vision.
Dr. Matsumoto was joined by global radiology leaders including Mahadevappa Mahesh, MS, PhD, President of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and former Chair of the ACR Medical Physics Commission and Boris Brkljaĉić, MD, PhD, 2025 ACR Honorary Fellow, Chair of the European Society of Radiology Eurosafe Imaging Initiative, and Vice President of the International Society of Radiology.
The IAEA plays a central role in guiding health professionals, patients and the public on safe and effective radiation use in medicine. The conference reviewed global developments in patient and professional safety and collaborative efforts to identify and address future challenges and opportunities.
The international focus of the conference aligns with ACR’s patient safety priorities demonstrated through the College’s programs, guidelines, accreditation services and advocacy efforts (e.g., with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission).
