Sept. 11, 2024
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released fourth quarter National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) Procedure-to-Procedure (PTP), Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE) and Add-on Code (AOC) edits that take effect Oct 1. The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) urges practices to review the NCCI edits relevant to radiology and make any necessary updates to their system.

CMS developed NCCI to promote national correct coding methodologies and to control improper coding that leads to inappropriate payment in Medicare Part B claims. This update includes all previous edits and changes from Jan. 1, 1996 to the present.

Refer to the CMS NCCI webpage and ACR Bulletin for additional information or contact Maria Tran, ACR Director of Economic Policy.
