The fellowship provides qualified staff radiologists or radiologists-in-training with a concentrated experience in medical editing, journalism and publishing at the Journal of the American College of Radiology® (JACR®).
The JACR is the official journal of the ACR, providing information on topics affecting the practices of diagnostic radiologists, interventional radiologists, medical physicists and radiation oncologists. The Hillman Fellowship is named for the JACR founding editor-in-chief Bruce J. Hillman, MD, FACR, who helmed the journal from its launch in 2004 until 2019.
“Each year our Hillman fellows are among the brightest and best in our specialty, with many of them continuing to be actively involved in the journal after their fellowship is complete,” said Ruth Carlos, MD, MS, FACR, editor-in-chief of the JACR. “Drs. Buch and Milch are incredibly accomplished radiologist physicians from whom we look forward to great things in the years ahead.”
Dr. Buch is a neuroradiologist and director of the Neuroradiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She is also an associate professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School. Buch has authored or coauthored 74 peer-reviewed scientific papers, articles or letters.
Dr. Milch is a breast radiologist and assistant clinical professor of radiological sciences at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She has authored or coauthored nearly two dozen peer-reviewed scientific papers, articles or letters.
The fellows will gain hands-on experience in editing and publishing the journal with the JACR editors and JACR staff. The fellows will also travel to New York City to spend time with JACR’s publisher, Elsevier. The fellowship began in 2015. To date, the JACR has hosted a total of 14 fellows.
