Feb. 7, 2025
U.S. Reps. Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC), Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) and eight other representatives from both the Republican and Democrat parties introduced the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act (H.R. 879) Jan. 31. The legislation, which would take effect April 1, if passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump, would add 6.62% to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) conversion factor (CF) for the remainder of 2025.

H.R. 879 mirrors bipartisan legislation introduced in 2024, that was not included in the continuing resolution passed by Congress in December to fund the government through March. The current CF is roughly 2.83% below 2024 CF.

H.R. 897 would: restore the 2.93% Congressional increase from 2024; account for inflationary pressures; and be prorated to reflect a lower CF during the first quarter of 2025.

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) is advocating for H.R. 879 to be included in the March continuing resolution to fund the government.
