State Legislatures Are Active As May Begins
The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) is providing this weekly update on state bills as many state legislatures look to the end of their legislative sessions in the month of May.
Read moreRepresentatives of the American College of Radiology® (ACR®) recently participated in the February American Medical Association (AMA) Current Procedure Terminology (CPT®) Editorial Panel meeting, the first of three to be held in 2025 to update codes for the 2027 CPT code cycle. ACR co-sponsored CPT code change proposals for Category I codes prostate biopsy services and Category III codes for surface mesh volume.
The Radiological Society of North America, American Roentgen Ray Society, Association of Academic Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, American Society of Neuroradiology, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and the American Society for Radiation Oncology also represented radiology at the meeting.
Radiology CPT advisors also met with other specialty societies to discuss potential code proposals, reviewed more than 60 proposals submitted to the AMA, and commented on 22 proposals that included imaging that would potentially affect radiologists.
Category III codes approved at this meeting will be effective July 1. Category I codes approved at this meeting will be effective Jan. 1, 2027.
