AI Central Market Updates for May 15, 2024

ACR Data Science Institute’s AI Central had a busy month, adding 6 new products to the directory. 

New Imaging AI Products 

Our AI Central directory has also been updated with 6 new products. This information is pulled directly from FDA 510K documents and updated by ACR staff. With this latest update, we see many newly cleared FDA products designed for head and chest CT scans. 

New products include:  

Overjet Caries Assist-Pediatric 

• Developed by: Overjet, Inc. 
• Overjet Caries Assist-Pediatric (OCA-Ped) is a radiological, automated, concurrent-read, computer-assisted detection (CADe) software intended to aid in the detection and segmentation of caries on bitewing and periapical radiographs. The device provides additional information for the clinician to use in their diagnosis of a tooth surface suspected of being carious. The device is not intended as a replacement for a complete dentist’s review or their clinical judgment that takes into account other relevant information from the image, patient history, or actual in vivo clinical assessment. The intended patient population of the device is patients aged 4-11 years old that have primary or permanent teeth (primary or mixed dentition) and are indicated for dental radiographs. 

CINA-ASPECTS 

• Developed by: Avicenna.AI 
• CINA-ASPECTS is a computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) software device used to assist the clinician in the assessment and characterization of brain tissue abnormalities using CT image data. The Software automatically reorients images, segments and analyzes ASPECTS Regions of lnterest (ROIs). CINAASPECTS extracts image data for the ROI(s) to provide analysis and computer analytics based on morphological characteristics. The imaging features are then synthesized by an artificial intelligence algorithm into a single ASPECT (Alberta Stroke Program Early CT) Score. CINA-ASPECTS is indicated for evaluation of patients presenting for diagnostic imaging workup with known MCA or ICA occlusion, for evaluation of extent of disease. Extent of disease refers to the number of ASPECTS regions affected which is reflected in the total score. This device provides information that may be useful in the characterization of early ischemic (acute) brain tissue injury during image interpretation. CINA-ASPECTS provides a comparative analysis to the ASPECTS standard of care radiologist assessment using the ASPECTS region definitions and highlighting ROIs and numerical scoring. 

BoneMRI 

• Developed by: MRIguidance B.V 
• BoneMRI is an image processing software that can be used for image enhancement in MRI images. It can be used to visualize the bone structures in MRI images with increased contrast with respect to the surrounding soft tissue. It is to be used in the pelvic region, which includes the bony anatomy of the sacrum, hip bones and femoral heads; and the spine, which includes the bony anatomy of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and S1 vertebrae. BoneMRI is indicated for use in patients 12 years and older. BoneMRI is not to be used for diagnosis or monitoring of (primary or metastatic) tumors. BoneMRI images are not intended to replace CT images in general but can be used to visualize 3D bone morphology, tissue radiodensity and tissue radiodensity contrast. 

syngo.CT Brain Hemorrhage

• syngo.CT Brain Hemorrhage is designed to assist the radiologist in prioritizing cases of suspected intracranial hemorrhage, also in the subarachnoid space, on non-contrast CT examinations of the head. It makes case-level output available to a CT scanner or other PACS system for worklist prioritization. The output is intended for informational purposes only and is not intended for diagnostic use. The device does not alter the original medical image and is not intended to be used as a standalone diagnostic device. 

AVIEW CAC 

• Developed by: Coreline Soft Co., Ltd 
• AVIEW CAC provides quantitative analysis of calcified plaques in the coronary arteries using non-contrast/non-gated Chest er scans. It enables the calculation of the Agatston score for coronary artery calcification, segmenting and evaluating the right coronary artery and left coronary artery. Also provide risk stratification based on calcium score, gender, and age, offering percentile-based risk categories by established guidelines. Designed for healthcare professionals, including radiologists and cardiologists, AVIEW CAC supports storing, transferring, inquiring, and displaying CT data sets on-premises, facilitating access through mobile devices and Chrome browsers. A VIEW CAC analyzes existing noncontrast/non-gated Chest CT studies that include the heart of adult patients above the age of 40. Also, the device's use should be limited to er scans acquired on General Electric (GE) or its subsidiaries (e.g., GE Healthcare) equipment. Use of the device with CT scans from other manufacturers has not been validated or recommended. 

XV Lung Ventilation Analysis Software

• The XV Ventilation Lung Analysis Software is software-based image processing technology that analyzes cinefluorograph images and a CT (can be a previously acquired CT that is representative of the patient’s present lung envelope), to quantify ventilation of pulmonary tissue for use in adult patients. The XV Ventilation Lung Analysis Software provides reproducible quantification of ventilation for pulmonary tissue, which is essential for providing quantitative support for diagnosis and follow up examinations. For use by referral from a pulmonary specialist or equivalent, the Device can be used to provide the physician with additional clinical data in the diagnosis and documentation of inhomogeneities and defects in pulmonary ventilation. Quantification and statistics are provided in the form of a Report, including: • The tidal volume (i.e. total lung ventilation), presented as a single value; • Visualization of lung ventilation with color-defined specific ventilation ranges overlaid on the CT slices; • The heterogeneity of lung ventilation, presented as three values, which quantifies the regional variability of the ventilation; and • Ventilation graph/ histogram of the classified lung voxel’s relative frequencies showing the frequency distribution of regional specific ventilation measured across the entire lung, including ventilation defect percentage which shows the volume of lung with low ventilation.  The clinical study used to validate the Device was limited to patients selected to undergo Radiation Therapy (most commonly for breast cancer and esophageal cancer).  In this study these patients were examined using the Device at four time-points over a 13-month period (twice prior and twice following radiation therapy).
