Several important legislative developments related to radiology coincided with the American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Capitol Hill Day, held May 10 in conjunction with ACR 2023. The ACR-backed Find it Early Act (H.R. 3086) was introduced in the U.S. House as the annual meeting began, and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) introduced a Senate companion bill (S. 1544) to the FIND Act (H.R. 1199) immediately prior to more than 450 radiologists advocating on Capitol Hill.

The Find it Early Act would require coverage for additional screening and diagnostic breast imaging exams for the detection of breast cancer for certain individuals assessed to be at greater risk with no cost sharing. The bill would apply to private insurance (including grandfathered plans), Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, TRICARE and Veterans Affairs.

During meetings with representatives, ACR members also discussed the Facilitating Innovative Nuclear Diagnostics (FIND) Act of 2023 (H.R. 1199 and S.1544). This legislation would “unpackage” radiopharmaceuticals in the payment system and expand access to advanced diagnostic imaging.

ACR's Government Relations team was encouraged by the late-breaking action and continues to monitor and advocate on these bills.

ACR continues to track and follow up with lawmakers regarding issues discussed during Hill Day. For more information about these and other ACR legislative priorities, contact Ashley Walton, ACR Government Affairs Director.
