The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) joined the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research —  and more than 300 research advocacy organizations — to welcome the 119th Congress. The letter, sent to all U.S. Representatives and Senators, emphasized the critical importance of federal investment in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to improve the lives of patients and communities across the nation, drive medical breakthroughs, strengthen the economy, and ensure the nation remains a global leader in medical research.

The group highlighted vital research occurring in every state and nearly every congressional district, providing an overview of NIH accomplishments in 2024. It also promoted the major role NIH plays in strengthening the nation’s economy, highlighting how “federal support of medical research directly and indirectly supported over 400,000 jobs and produced nearly $93 billion in new economic activity nationwide – or $2.46 of economic activity for every $1 of research funding.”
