Read moreCMS released the calendar year (CY) 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) final rule Nov. 4. In this rule, CMS describes finalized changes to payment provisions and to policies for the Quality Payment Program (QPP) and its component participation methods – the Merit-Based Incentives Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs). ACR® has developed an initial summary outlining key provisions of the final rule relevant to radiology.
While over impacts of the policy changes in the rule appear to be positive for radiology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation oncology relative value units, the rule finalizes a 1.83 percent conversion factor decrease for services provided by a qualifying Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) participant and a 2.31 percent conversion factor decrease for non-APM participants.
ACR is continuing to review the final rule and will provide a detailed summary in the coming weeks. For more information, contact Katie Keysor, ACR Vice President of Economic Policy.
